Ms. Landon received a B.A. in Geology from Knox College, Galesburg, IL and a M.A. degree in Geology from the State University of New York in Binghamton. She began fifteen years with Amoco Production Company in 1974 in Denver. She was involved in exploration and development projects throughout Colorado and Wyoming and initiated the work that resulted in the discovery of Aristocrat Field. For three years, she worked on exploration projects in the thrust belt of western Wyoming and western Montana. In Montana her work resulted in four wildcat wells in the Ringling area and the Big Hole Basin. After 1980, she supervised the geologic groups in Alaska (preparing for two offshore lease sales) and the Basin and Range during development of Blackburn Field. During a special project assignment, her work resulted in drilling of an 18,000 foot well in 1987 to evaluate the Midcontinent Rift. In 1987, she was transferred to Houston to manage Exploration Training for Amoco worldwide.
Ms. Landon returned to Denver to begin her own consulting practice in 1990 after leaving Amoco. She has worked on regional projects including a major study of the Niobrara Formation in the Rocky Mountain region; work on the stratigraphy and reservoir potential of the South Gabon Basin; evaluation of horizontal drilling opportunities in various carbonate-rich basins; reservoir evaluation of several fields in the Williston Basin and the Permian Basin; and has served as an expert witness. She also continues to teach industry courses for AAPG (Introduction to Basic Concepts in Exploration and Development), Department of Petroleum Engineering at Colorado School of Mines (Petroleum SuperSchool), and BakerHughes (Basic Petroleum Technology), as well as in house courses for many companies. Ms. Landon is an aggressive frontier explorationist and technical innovator, able to integrate a diverse variety of data to generate and evaluate new play opportunities. Currently she is involved with TPA in plays in Michigan, Illinois and the Rocky Mountain Basins.
Ms. Landon is active in various professional organizations and has served as Treasurer of AAPG and President of the AGI, is a member of the National Petroleum Council, and is currently chair of the Committee on Earth Resources at the National Academies. |
