S. Duff Kerr has a graduate degree in Geology from the University of Cincinnati, and has over 43 years experience in Petroleum Exploration. His initial 20 years were with Shell Oil Company in project development and management, principally in the Permian and Michigan Basins. This was followed by 3 years with Kirby Exploration, Inc., as Rocky Mountain Region Exploration Manager. Programs in the Williston and San Juan Basins were initiated, these led to seismic and drilling programs which resulted in the discovery of three oil fields. Since 1977 he has been an independent consultant and explorationist.
Consulting activities included preparation of major regional studies in the Williston and Gulf Coast Basins. As a principal in KEWA Exploration, Inc., large-scale exploration projects were developed in the Black Warrior Basin, Williston Basin, Denver Basin, Appalachian Basin and the Midcontinent Rift. Programs in the Black Warrior Basin resulted in drilling of 55 wells, 26 of which were successful, including 5 field discoveries. The Denver Basin program resulted in 45 successful development wells. The Midcontinent Rift program initiated a major exploration play involving several major companies and exploration expenditures of tens of millions of dollars. Currently he is involved in plays in New York State and within the Rocky Mountain basins with TPA. |
