Dr. Edward has several degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara culminating with a Ph.D. awarded in 1971. After several years as summer hire, he joined Mobil Oil in 1969. Efforts at Mobil included interpretation of the Southern California Borderland for OCS Sale 35, two years in the California production department working the San Jooquin and Sacramento valleys, and finally exploring in the Wyoming / Idaho overthrust and the Hingline of Utah. In 1978, Edwards joined Texas Oil & Gas working as Area Geologist for Wyoming, with efforts focused mainly in the Green River, Powder River and Big Horn basins. Tow years later, Dr. Edwards took the Geological Manager position with Snyder Oil Co., with responsibility for the western US, from the Rocky Mountains to California and Oregon. During this time Snyder was involved in pioneer work in coal bed methane exploration in the Piceance Basin and Mesaverde tight-gas sand development in the Eastern Green River Basin. The Mesaverde work, along with other operators proved up one of the foremost gas producing provinces in the US.
In the late 80's, Dr. Edwards worked the Gulf Coast for Nerco Oil and Gas, doing development work in the Gulf of Mexico and at Black Lake Field in northern Louisiana. The giant Black Lake field was the object of a detailed reservoir simulation study which eventually added significant reserves. After the sale of Nerco Oil and Gas, Edwards returned to Denver in 1994 and worked again for Snyder Oil in the eastern Green River Basin.
In 1996, he opened a consulting office and has worked for various clients in Wyoming, Texas, Kuwait and Ivory Coast.
Since joining TPA early in 2005, shale gas resource plays have been Edwards main focus. |
