Dr. Blott has 36 years experience using integrated geophysical and geological methods for exploration and development in the domestic and international petroleum and minerals industries. He received a B. Sc. degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Alberta (1967), and a doctoral degree in Geophysics (Petroleum Engineering minor) at the Colorado School of Mines (1997). There, he conducted research for the Reservoir Characterization Project on the application of multicomponent seismology to the Pennsylvanian (Morrow) valley-fill sandstone reservoir at Sorrento Field, Colorado. Ed was a Senior Geophysicist at Amoco Canada Petroleum Co. from 1967 to 1971. He joined Mesa Petroleum Company in 1971 and became Division Geophysicist with responsibility for all geophysical exploration and development operations within Canada. In late 1976 Ed worked on Banister Technical Services operations. In early 1977, the Banister Board accepted the recommendations of the business plan and terminated operations of its technical services group. Ed became a partner and General Manager of Quest Exploration Ltd. in mid-1977. He directed the growth and operations of Quest in Canada and the USA for next seven years. In 1984, Ed left Quest and became a founding partner in Petrel Exploration Consultants Inc. Over the next five years, he directed marketing and managed fiscal performance of geophysical and international operations of Petrel. Ed also directed domestic consulting projects in California, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Michigan and Louisiana. He led the company’s expansion into international markets in Latin America Great Britain, North Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia. He led the research and development effort of Petrel that developed new modeling, processing and interpretation techniques, most notably in the area AVO analysis. In 1989, Ed started a private consulting practice that involves providing a broad range of integrated services to diverse domestic and international clients. He joined TPA in 1992. Integration of geological, engineering, and geophysical data is the hallmark of his practice that today encompasses integrated reservoir evaluation reviews and audits and integrated exploration and development consulting for petroleum reservoir detection and characterization. Ed has widely recognized expertise in multicomponent seismic technology that provides substantial added value to both fracture plays and the identification of basin centered sweet spots. In 1998, Ed and others formed ExplorTech LLC which has an alliance with TPA. |
