Mr. Bakker received his MS in Geology from the University of Wisconsin. He has worked in the petroleum industry for more than 50 years. His experience covers many facets of the industry and includes responsible managerial positions in both exploration and production. Geographically it covers all of the continental United States, Canada and parts of Central and South America.
Dan spent 19 years with Shell Oil Company and was Division Exploration Manager in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jackson, Mississippi, Houston and Abilene, Texas, and Denver, Colorado. In addition, he was part of the original team that propelled domestic Shell Oil into foreign exploration. Early in his career as a geologist he was responsible for the discovery of significant reserves in the Ordovician Oil Creek sandstone in the structurally complex Marietta Syncline. During his managerial career, he conducted a highly successful multi-million dollar effort in the Jurassic Smackover play in southeastern United States, as well as a successful exploration program in the Hardeman Basin in north Texas. In Michigan, he was instrumental in Shell's entry in the Niagaran reef play.
Since 1975 Dan has been an independent consulting geologist in Denver, engaged in oil and gas prospect generation in the southeastern United States, Texas, New Orleans, Mid-Continent and Rocky Mountain regions. In addition to his prospect generation for his own account, he has been retained by various companies to evaluate outside generated prospects, perform due diligence service and conduct economic analysis of producing oil and gas trends. Mr. Bakker is a Play Manager with TPA in parts of Colorado, Montana and Wyoming. |
