TPA Background

Throughout Thomasson Partner Associates’ seventeen year history, TPA has established a reputation within the industry as the leader in providing first quality, technically solid, oil and gas opportunities.  This has been accomplished through the selection of accomplished, experienced and proven gas and oil explorationists as part of integrated project teams.

The leadership team at TPA is headed by Dr. M. Ray Thomasson, founder.  Dr. Thomasson’s career has included distinguished positions including Head of Strategic Studies for Royal Dutch Shell Group and Chief Geologist at Shell Oil Company.  He also headed-up several independent companies prior to founding TPA.  Other positions Dr. Thomasson has held include President of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, a global professional organization with over 30,000 members, and President of the American Geological Institute with over 120,000 members.  Other members of the leadership team include Mr. Erv Single, former Division Geologist for Shell Oil Company and executive level positions with smaller independents.  Mr. George Newman, a registered petroleum engineer with an MBA in finance, was Senior Staff Petroleum Engineer and Manager of Planning and Economics for Petro-Lewis Corporation, Denver.  There he managed a $60 million drilling budget.  Mr. Newman also developed software to optimize the sale of $1 billion in Petro-Lewis properties.  Dr. Terry Mather chaired the hydrocarbon generation and expulsion analysis for Shell in the Gulf of Alaska sale, and was co-founder and executive in a small, highly successful independent oil and gas firm.

Since inception in 1991, Thomasson Partner Associates has turned approximately 90 projects to industry partners.  Through 2006 approximately 4.7 million acres have been leased, 21,000 line miles of 2-D seismic have been licensed, an additional 686 line miles of 2-D shot, 633 square miles of 3-D seismic has been acquired and 639 wells have been drilled.  Of the wells drilled, 560 were successfully completed.  Wildcat wells comprised 119 of the total with 43 of those successful for a wildcat success rate of 36.1%.  This activity has proven approximately 789 BCFG and 3 MMBO.  Probable reserves, many of which are in-fill and extension, are extensive and not included in the above totals.

Best estimates of this record is that industry partners expended a total of  $400 million for all-in finding and development costs of  $0.49 per MMBTU.

Thomasson Partner Associates’ primary focus is on high-impact projects with the potential to discover truly significant reserves.  Our record proves TPA’s ability to provide a vehicle for a client to establish itself as a major player in the energy industry.

TPA’s greatest strength lies in its human resource and the application of the extensive experience, ideas, insight and the business sense contained therein.  Keeping abreast of technical trends, alliances with cutting-edge geoscience groups and a strong work ethic are the keys to TPA’s record.

A continuation of this enviable record of success in part depends on adequate funding and partnering with the proper industry groups.
